8 Fun Things To Do With Your Friends That Won’t Break The Bank

Whether you live close to your friends or if you’re far away, you’re going to want to find ways to hang out with them and have fun together. If you can do that without spending much money, all the better! Here are eight different fun things to do with your friends that won’t break the bank.

1) Grab a Convenience Store Meal

One of my favorite ways to save money on food without sacrificing taste is to eat at convenience stores. I live near a very convenient store and you can find hot, freshly-cooked meals for under $2. If you’re really frugal, you can even bring your own cutlery. It might not be something you’d do all of the time but when times are tough, it’s a great alternative that doesn’t sacrifice nutrition or taste. And if saving money isn’t your biggest concern, convenience stores are actually among some of America’s healthiest restaurants.

2) Play Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go is one of today’s most popular mobile games, and it’s also a great way to have fun with friends without spending much. All you need is your phone, some time outside and a little bit of light physical activity (which you should be doing anyway!). Pokemon Go players tend to walk more than they would otherwise because they can collect their Poke Balls faster, so Pokemon Go is a great excuse to get out there and take a nice stroll in search of some new Pokemon! Grab your bestie, take your phones out and go catch ’em all!

3) Go Camping

Camping is an inexpensive way to escape for a weekend. If you have friends who like to camp, throw together a quick camping trip on short notice. Or if your city has free or cheap camping nearby, try pitching a tent by your house and hosting a slumber party. It’s fun, it’s cheap and it’s a great way to unplug from technology and social media. If going out in nature isn’t really your thing, host an old-fashioned board game night at home or take turns buying each other lunch every day for a week. Spending time with people you enjoy is always good!

4) Play Cards

Card games are a classic way to spend time with friends while also building relationships. Spades is among our favorites, but Hearts and Uno are great too. You can either pick up a deck of cards at your local supermarket or keep one handy on your phone. If you really want to get in touch with your inner child, you could even play a friendly game of Go Fish or Old Maid!

5) Paint Pottery

When it comes to fun things to do with your friends, a trip to a pottery painting studio may not be your first thought. After all, you’re more likely to spend time painting ceramic mugs for your grandmother than anything else. But that attitude is exactly why paint-your-own-pottery studios have become so popular—they’re places where anyone can feel welcome, regardless of skill level or whether they brought their own supplies (some studios even provide everything for you). It doesn’t matter if you think your work looks like an abstract kindergartener made it—you and your friends will still have a great time playing around with colors and seeing what happens.

6) Cook Together

So many people think that cooking is just for professionals. And while there’s nothing wrong with making a quick trip to Taco Bell on your way home from work, it’s good to be able to throw together a meal without having to run back out to get supplies. Cooking together with friends not only saves you money, but also gives you something new and exciting to do together. Plus, when things don’t go perfectly, you have someone else there who can help! Most importantly, however, is that cooking can teach you how different ingredients interact with each other in ways that you might not have thought of before – which will make it easier for you to invent recipes on your own down the road!

7) Visit an Art Gallery

If you’re looking for something a little different than your regular movie night, visit an art gallery. If you have one in your area, buy tickets to see a contemporary art exhibit. Or if you don’t have access to big name galleries, look into local artist co-ops or lesser known venues that display artists who are at earlier stages of their careers. You may just find a new favorite painter or sculptor and take home an original piece to call your own! Search art galleries near your zip code on Yelp to see what’s available in your area. Look into buying tickets through Groupon as well; they often offer deals on unique events like these.

8) Go Hiking/Camping/Biking

Getting outside and experiencing nature is a great way to make new memories with friends. Going hiking, camping or biking allows you to immerse yourself in one of your favorite outdoor activities while spending time with people you enjoy. Furthermore, being active can also help reduce stress and improve mental health. If you’re looking for a fun, free way to bond with friends outside, look no further than these three activities!

Making plans with friends can be the best way to make the most of your free time, whether you’re spending the evening out on the town or hanging out at home watching movies and eating popcorn. It’s even better when these plans are cheap or free! Here are eight fun things to do with your friends that won’t break the bank, no matter how many of you there are or how old you are.
